Chinese New Year Nail Art

Hello Readers:

Happy Chinese New Year! To celebrate Chinese New year, I have done some themed nail art (double nail art week yay!). In this mani I have used BB Couture's "Uninvited" which is a burnt brick red with a natural matte finish. The matte finish you won't get to see since I used a nail decal and had to use a top coat (I don't know a matte top coat). I also used My Ten Friends' "Stars Collide" which is a glitter bomb of gold glitter. I have also used a nail decal for the first time. I was originally going to use the nail decal that said "wealth" buuuut since I had no experience with nail decals before I accidentally squished it and had to go with the back up of "gold".

I love it! So gorgeous! The polishes went on super easy, and I'll definitely be wearing them again in other manis! I didn't notice until after I applied the decals, but they have a slight amount of glitter to them which I don't particularly care for but it was fun using them and I think I might buy more in the future (but making sure I buy ones without the sparkle).

To get your own bottle of Uninvited check out BB Couture's website or to get your own bottle of Stars Collide check out My Ten Friends' website (MTF is actually having a restock today at 10am Cali time).

Until next time.

My First Water Marbling Mani

Hello Readers:

Now this isn't really my first water marbling mani... my actual first one was a horrible disaster, so this one will actually be my second attempt at water marbling. BUT this is definitely my first water marbling mani that I'm willing to share with y'all. It is by far not perfect, but I think overall it turned out pretty cool.

For this mani I used polishes from Darling Diva Polish's Diamond collection. It has Green Diamond, Blue Diamond and Rose Diamond. I know the cleanup is rough. I used chapstick (as per a tip I saw on a  youtube video about water marbling) to protect my skin for easier cleanup, but I must not have gotten enough on my cuticle area and that turned out to be a pain in the butt to get off. Next time I'll definitely be making sure I get enough on in that area, and the couple of nails where the colors are more muddled I know I just wasn't quick enough into the water.

Still, overall I'm quite happy with how this turned out for being so new to water marbling. I don't think I'll use this technique too much (maybe just once a month) as it is so messy but definitely fun to play with :)

Also as per request I'm going to try to involve some kind of nail art once a week, though sometimes it might not be possible. I'm still going to try my hardest to do so.

Until next time.

Review: "Friday the 13th #2" from Above the Curve

Hello Readers:

Today I have a limited edition polish from Above the Curve. There were two Friday the 13th's in 2013, and on each one Above the Curve released a limited edition Friday the 13th polish. I've seen alot of blog posts on the first one (which is a lovely brown holo) but I have yet to see any posts about the second one so I decided to showcase it today.

Friday the 13th #2 is a very difficult polish to describe. It's mysterious in its own way. In certain lights its a lovely plum with silver glitter, but in other lights it looks charcoal grey with green glitter. So, personally I refer to this polish as "Mystery Shifter".

1 clear base coat, 2 coats polish, no top coat

This polish goes on smooth and easy, and is very versatile. Keep an eye out for any upcoming Friday the 13th's as Above the Curve may bring it back just for that day. Until then, you can go check out their website to get one of their other awesome polishes. And remember a portion of every bottle goes to charity ^_^

Until next time.

Polka Dot Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I've been experimenting with nail art. I tried a water marbling a couple nights ago but it was a disaster LOL I think it was because I forgot to use filtered water, but I'm going to try it again either tonight or tomorrow to make sure that was the issue. If not back to reading/watching water marbling tips.

So I went back to something more standard. I did a polka dot, that had some dots inside dots. In this mani I used The Polish Bar's "Far Far Away" (a new to me brand which is delightful by the way!), Piggy Paint's "Tip of the Iceberg", and My Ten Friends' "Birthday Earthling".

Overall I think it turned out great. :) I think next time I'll try to see if I can do a floral pattern, or something a little more elaborate (but still simple since I'm new to nail art lol)

Until next time.

Review: "Crushin' It" from Sea Lore

Hello Readers:

I apologize for not getting this post up yesterday, I wasn't feeling the best but today is another day. Today I have a polish from Sea Lore's Finding Nemo collection, which happens to be one of my favorite Disney movies! So I was super excited when I saw the polish for one of my favorite characters: Crush the sea turtle! ^_^

Crush (img src: google)

Sea Turtle (img src: google)

Crushin' It is an olive green based polish with glitter in various sizes and shades of green, brown, orange, gold, and copper. It also has a green and copper shimmer.

I love love LOVE this polish! It goes on a little sheer so you'll need 3 coats of it for opacity, or have some colored undies to make it pop. It goes on smooth, and easy. It's so gorgeous, even if it wasn't from a movie I loved I would make sure I had this in my collection.

If you want to get your hands on a bottle of this or any of her other wonderful ocean inspired polishes go check out Sea Lore's website.

Oh! Also at this time Sea Lore has a deal going on. She has recently started a line of fisherman net scarves with color schemes that match some of her polishes. The scarves are $15 each or you can buy the combo which is a scarf of your choice plush a full size polish of your choice for $20.

Until next time.

Review: "Lake of Shining Waters" from Literary Lacquer

Hello Readers:

I apologize profusely for the lack of posts. I've had a lot of horribly overcast weather lately, and though I did make myself a lightbox because of that situation only one of the lights I have is strong enough to light it (and one just won't cut it for good pics). So sadly I've had to wait for some semi-decent weather, and luckily that is today.

Awhile back you may remember my post of Literary Lacquer's "Raspberry Cordial" holo polish, and you know I fell in love with her holos. Well today I've brought to you another of her wonderful holo polishes! Today's polish "Lake of Shining Waters" is a teal colored holo from her Anne of Green Gables collection.

1 clear base coat, 3 coats polish, 1 clear top coat

Look at that sparkle!

This color is GORGEOUS! And the sparkle is AMAZING! However, I did have a slight issue when applying this polish. In certain places it seemed to leave gaps on my nail instead of coating it, hence why I needed to use 3 coats for full coverage. Other than that this polish is lovely.

If you would like to grab yourself a bottle of this polish (or any of her amazing holos) go check out Literary Lacquer's ETSY page, or if you want to keep an eye out for new releases/restocks follow her on Facebook.

Until next time.

Review: "Spacebound" from My Ten Friends

Hello Reader(s):

I have a super gorgeous glitter bomb for you today! I honestly never thought something would even come close to moving My Ten Friends' Starry night from my number 1 favorite spot. Today's polish "Spacebound" from My Ten Friends is now tied as my favorite glitter bomb polish.

Now this is actually a reformulation of the original Spacebound. Some of glitter that was used in the original Spacebound was discontinued so it needed to be redone. I do not have a bottle of the original so unfortunately I don't know what the original looks like but I LOVE the reformulation!

The new Spacebound has a navy blue base (but I think it looks more indigo personally) with purple, blue, and silver hex glitter in various sizes.

This is so gorgeous!!! And it goes on smoothly!! I used 1 clear base coat, 2 coats polish, and 2 coats clear top coat to make it all smooth. It's simply stunning!!! Love it sooo much! If you'd love to get your hands on this beauty keep an eye out on the My Ten Friends Facebook for upcoming restocks of this lovely polish. If you'd like to check out their other available glitter bombs go check out the My Ten Friends website.

Don't you all just LOVE this color combo?!? :)

Until next time.
