Review: "Candy Coated" from Piggy Paint

So I was on a search for a nail polish safe for my two year old niece to wear since she really loves having her nails painted. She isn't one to really put her hands in her mouth so we haven't been worried about using 3free nail polishes on her, but just to be safe I went on the hunt for a safe nail polish for children.

In my search I stumbled upon a company called Piggy Paint. It is a water based nail polish that is completely non toxic, hypoallergenic, and low odor. It is entirely safe for kids of all ages. After looking through their products and seeing their amazing array of colors I decided I would like to test out this polish. Now I don't know if you would really consider it an Indie brand, but I am making an exception either way because it is nontoxic, and well the colors are awesome.

For my first piggy paint color choice I bought Candy Coated. It is a plum colored polish with a bluish silver shimmer. It gives the look a iced or frosted look to it.

I will admit that it is a little streaky on certain nails but i'm not sure if that is because of the polish or just because my nails aren't as smooth as I'd like at the moment. I did use a clear base and clear top coat but it isn't necessary. I merely used to the top coat because I knew it would dry faster. Even though the polish is a little streaky, I still love it. The color is great, and I can't wait to buy some for my niece.

I tried to take pictures at different angles, and in different lighting to show the shimmer plus the true color of the polish. I really think this is a great product and would recommend it to any one who has a little princess in their lives or even ones who don't. :)

Until next time.

Review: "Ringer" from Darling Diva Polish

Well first I just want to say that from my last mani with Seafetti... it sadly started to chip soon after I applied it. I actually had to redo one finger entirely because later that day all the polish came off. Then it was fine for a couple more days but then by the 3rd or 4th day it was coming off so I had to change my mani. I still really love the polish and would buy it again but it doesn't seem to be a mani that would last for the week.

Anyways, on to my new mani using Darling Diva Polish's "Ringer". Ringer is a sheer purple jelly base polish with a red to green shifting shimmer.

Overall this polish is a beautiful color and the shifting shimer is pretty cool. I find I see the red shimmer more dominantly than the green shimmer, but it is definitely a fun color. Sadly however, I found that for some reason the polish began to produce a weird bubbling on some of my nails.

the bubbling is more dominant on my middle and ring fingers.

I used three coats of Ringer with a clear base coat, no top. I think the polish is too sheer for me to wear by itself as you can see the white part of my nail underneath pretty clearly so I think this would be a polish to wear over top of another color.

The above photos were me trying to really show the red shimmer of the polish, and the below photos are me trying to get photos of the green shimmer. Sadly my attempts to photograph the green shimmer didn't go over too well.

Overall the polish is very pretty, and I will try it out over a colored base next time, but if it keeps up with the weird bubbling effect I don't think I would buy this specific color again. However, I am still a huge Darling Diva polish fan and continue to enjoy their other polishes.

Until next time.

Review: "Seafetti" from Sea Lore

I had a very busy week last week so unfortunately my mani wasn't as good as it could have been thanks to a shaky hand, but this time I am definitely more confident. I decided I wanted to do try something fun this time around so I chose Seafetti from Sea Lore.

First, a little about Sea Lore. They are an indie nail polish company that gets their inspiration from all things aquatic. They are 3-free and cruelty free, and all polishes are hand mixed.

I was so excited when I heard about Seafetti, through Kim over at Overall Beauty. Not only did this color just jump out at me, but it glows in the dark. I knew I had to try and get a bottle, but I knew it would be difficult because it was a Limited Edition polish. Kim was extremely helpful and was able to procure me a bottle of it. (Seriously, Kim has been a great help to me in so many things, and has totally gone above and beyond the usual customer service. I would recommend her shop anytime.)

Anyways, thanks to Kim I was now in possession of Seafetti which is a sparkling sea blue jelly that has green and blue matte glitter, iridescent glitter, and blue holo hexes. As a plus it glows in the dark!

This is 3 coats of Seafetti with clear base and top coats. I love this color. It is so pretty and I can't stop smiling when I see it glow in the dark. I do wish the base color was a little more opaque but that can easily be remedy by using a colored base coat. Unfortunately I have been unable to get pictures of this polish glowing in the dark :( However there is photos of it glowing in the dark over at Sea Lore's store.

Overall I am very pleased with this polish. Application goes on smoothly and the color is so much fun! I would love to try more Sea Lore products in the future.

Until next time.

Review: "Close Encounters" from My Ten Friends

Sorry I've MIA for so long. I had a very busy week and the last few days I haven't been feeling the best, but I have finally put on a new mani. My Ten Friends recently had a restock and in lieu of having bought some amazing polishes that I will be receiving in a few weeks I decided to get my glitter on.

I went with "Close Encounters" which is a purple base polish with various sized black and gold glitter. I went with three coats of Close Encounters because I wanted a deep purple, but you really only need two coats for full coverage. I have always been a purple lover, and boy does this polish deliver. I think its pretty glamorous (despite my bad application skills when applying... but practice will eventually make perfect lol). I think this polish would definitely be great for an evening out.

This polish gives great sparkle, and intense color. It is a beauty indeed, and hopefully next time my hand won't be shaking so much during application that it will actually look more elegant than what I'm showing. This color is definitely a must have for me, and I would happily buy it again in a heart beat.

Until next time.

Review: "Zen Pool" from Darling Diva Polish

I loved my Peonie mani so much, but after it finally start to chip away I thought I'd give another Darling Diva Polish a shot. I decided to go with Zen Pool since I really felt like going with blue today. Zen Pool blue crelly based polish that has various sized round hot pink hexes, various size and shaped teal glitter, and various sized white round and hexagon glitter.

I used a clear base coat, two coats of Zen Pool and a clear top coat.  This color of blue is so pretty and the accent colors really make it pop. However for the blue base to be more opaque you would need at least 3 layers of it, or you could use a colored base coat. I think the next time I use this lovely polish I will use a colored base coat so I can have a more intense blue.

I really love how the accent glitters bring that little extra sparkle to the mani. Man I need some cuticle oil though lol That will have to be my next purchase. Well time to go do some housework now that I've completed my mani. I probably should have done the housework first but I was just so excited to try a new polish.

Until next time.
