Double Review: "Ravenclaw" & "Slytherin" from Above the Curve

Hello Readers:

I have two polishes to show to you today. Both are from Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection, and as a huge Harry Potter fan we know I'm over the moon for this collection. I honestly love that Shawn and Angel have put their own spin on things rather than the straight out obvious color choices seen in the movies, not that I mind collections like that (I own some like that) its just nice to see a new take on things.

First up is the house polish for Ravenclaw.

"Ravenclaw" is deep blue polish with green-blue-purple-pink color shifting micro glitter and navy micro glitter and a linear holo.

Another cloudy day

The sun peeked out for a minute finally

I think the overcast weather is here to stay, but at least I get little intervals of sunlight. I had some trouble capturing the awesome colorshifting glitter but I think the more shaded photos at least give you a glimpse of it. The holo is definitely intense. Everything about this polish is a win! I love love love it! I had no application issues, I used two coats of polish over a clear base coat, no top coat.

Next up is the house polish for Slytherin.

"Slytherin" is an olive green to gold duochrome with green shimmer and scattered holo.

Full sunlight

In the shade

At first I wasn't sure I would like "Slytherin" because I'm usually not a fan of chrome polishes, but this one is just fabulous! I REALLY didn't want to take it off! I found that the gold duochrome seemed to be more of bronzy gold but I still love it, and I'm a huge fan of scattered holos. I had no application issues either, two coats of polish over a clear base coat and no top coat. Also, apologies for the water droplets in the photos I thought I had dried off my hands entirely before photos but apparently not.

Seriously everything about these polishes are fabulous and I could never stop staring at my nails with either color! Whether your an Harry Potter fan or not I think this colors definitely need to be on your "must have" lists.

If you'd like to check out Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection or just their wonderful polishes in general you can check out their Etsy Shop. Also, don't forget that not only do they have great polishes they also donate $1 of every bottle to charity. ^_^

Until next time.

Toothpick Splatter Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I've got some nail art to share with you today! ^_^ Full disclosure though, it was originally supposed to be a spun sugar nail art mani, but things went horribly wrong so I turned it into toothpick splatter art instead.

For my polishes in this mani I used 4 polishes from Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection. For my base color I used Ravenclaw, and for my splatter colors I used, Expecto Patronum, Wingardium Leviosa, and Polyjuice Potion.

Still mostly cloudy weather here, but the sun did a little sneak peek for me for some of the photos. My original plan didn't work out, but I still like how it turned out. It's fun and playful and I like the colors. Definitely loving my HP ATC collection! ^_^

I've got more ideas for nail art, including more Halloween nail art. Hopefully I'll be able to showcase more nail art soon. Oh! And don't forget there is still two days left to enter my giveaway, so go put in your entries: HERE.

Until next time.

Special Charity Polish: "Purple Heart" from Darling Diva Polish

Hello Readers:

I have returned from my time away. My first post back I want to show you a limited edition charity polish from Darling Diva Polish. "Purple Heart" was created to help raise money for Disabled American Veterans (DAV) with 100% of the proceeds being donated.

Being a part of a military family this is near and dear to my heart, so I knew I had to try and grab a bottle. I was lucky and managed to snag one.

"Purple Heart" is a deep purple linear holo.

Outside Photos

Inside Natural Light

Sadly I have had nothing but cloudy/rainy weather lately so I am unable to show the true holo glory of this polish, but you can at least get a glimpse of it from the indoor photos. I can't say enough good things about this gorgeous polish! I used two coats of it over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat.

"Purple Heart" also has amazing wear time. I put this polish on for my time away, and it didn't start chipping until day 5, and even then it was only minor chipping as I wore this polish for a week. "Purple Heart" is sold out but there are many other fabulous polishes over at Darling Diva Polish's website.

Until next time.

Review: "I Hate Pink" from Darling Diva Polish

Hello Readers:

I have a lovely polish from Darling Diva Polish's "I Hate Pink Collection". Sadly, I couldn't dip into this collection sooner, but so glad I was able to snag the ones I wanted finally.

Today, I'll be showing you "I Hate Pink", a pink holo with purple flash.

Full sunlight

Indoors

I looooove "I Hate Pink"!! Dang, these wonderful indie makers just keep making awesome pink polishes that I can't live without. If it keeps up I won't be able to say "I hate pink" anymore haha. Seriously though, this polish is gorgeous! I had no application issues, used two coats of polish over a clear base coat and a clear top coat. Also, this polish has great wear time. It took five days before the polish began chipping. I also love the purple flash it adds to the fun of it.

Sadly this polish is sold out but definitely check out the Darling Diva Polish website for many other fabulous polishes.

On another note, I am headed on vacation for awhile starting tomorrow so this will be my last post for a bit. I'll check in on my FB page from time to time, and I'll be back by the time my giveaway ends; which you can still enter HERE.

Until next time.

"War Of The Worlds" From My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I have a special polish to show you today. Last year My Ten Friends  helped a friend fund his kickstarter Banned Books For The Blind, and created two special polishes for it. A few months ago I did a post for the first polish Frankenstein, and today I'll show you "War of the Worlds".

"War of the Worlds" is a blood red jelly with large black hexes, medium black, red and holo hexes, plus some black and holo microglitter and a smattering of iridescent flakies. OH! And it glows in the dark too ^_^

I loooooove this <3 I of course have a special place in my heart for glitterbombs, and this one is such a great one for this time of year. The color is fabulous and the glow in the dark is great! (Sadly of course my camera sucks at capturing glow in the darks so I have none to show, but it is there). I used three coats of polish over a clear base coat, and a top coat. You could totally get away with two coats but I wanted I darker red so I added a third coat.

This polish is not for sale, but My Ten Friends still has many awesome polishes to choose from over at their website.

I'm starting to get ideas for some Halloween nail art I want to use this polish for, so look for that in the future. It won't be for a few weeks though since I'm headed for vacation in a few days, while I'm gone I won't have much web time so no posts but I'll pop in on my FB page from time to time. My giveaway will continue through my vacation so don't forget to get your entries in: HERE.

Unti next time.
