Toothpick Splatter Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I've got some nail art to share with you today! ^_^ Full disclosure though, it was originally supposed to be a spun sugar nail art mani, but things went horribly wrong so I turned it into toothpick splatter art instead.

For my polishes in this mani I used 4 polishes from Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection. For my base color I used Ravenclaw, and for my splatter colors I used, Expecto Patronum, Wingardium Leviosa, and Polyjuice Potion.

Still mostly cloudy weather here, but the sun did a little sneak peek for me for some of the photos. My original plan didn't work out, but I still like how it turned out. It's fun and playful and I like the colors. Definitely loving my HP ATC collection! ^_^

I've got more ideas for nail art, including more Halloween nail art. Hopefully I'll be able to showcase more nail art soon. Oh! And don't forget there is still two days left to enter my giveaway, so go put in your entries: HERE.

Until next time.

"War Of The Worlds" From My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I have a special polish to show you today. Last year My Ten Friends  helped a friend fund his kickstarter Banned Books For The Blind, and created two special polishes for it. A few months ago I did a post for the first polish Frankenstein, and today I'll show you "War of the Worlds".

"War of the Worlds" is a blood red jelly with large black hexes, medium black, red and holo hexes, plus some black and holo microglitter and a smattering of iridescent flakies. OH! And it glows in the dark too ^_^

I loooooove this <3 I of course have a special place in my heart for glitterbombs, and this one is such a great one for this time of year. The color is fabulous and the glow in the dark is great! (Sadly of course my camera sucks at capturing glow in the darks so I have none to show, but it is there). I used three coats of polish over a clear base coat, and a top coat. You could totally get away with two coats but I wanted I darker red so I added a third coat.

This polish is not for sale, but My Ten Friends still has many awesome polishes to choose from over at their website.

I'm starting to get ideas for some Halloween nail art I want to use this polish for, so look for that in the future. It won't be for a few weeks though since I'm headed for vacation in a few days, while I'm gone I won't have much web time so no posts but I'll pop in on my FB page from time to time. My giveaway will continue through my vacation so don't forget to get your entries in: HERE.

Unti next time.

Dippin Into Halloween Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I've been dying to do some nail art lately, and recently I had the opportunity to do so. I was even able to use some of Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection. I wanted to go with a fun "bump in the night" feeling and I think it turned out great!

Sunset lighting

Full sunlight (midday lighting)

In this mani I used Above the Cruve's "Sirius Black" and "Polyjuice Potion" polishes as my base colors, both of which glow in the dark. I made my own decals using stamping plates BM-H06 and MoYou Sci-Fi 01 with BMC white stamping polish which I went over with ATC "Polyjuice Potion", which went on my thumb and middle fingers.

For my index finger I added some red gemstones. For my ring finger I used the "spun sugar" technique which was so easy and fun I'm mad at myself for not doing it sooner! Completely love it! For my baby finger I used some striping tape to help make stripes, when I went to take the tape off I saw the color from the tape leeched onto my polish, and oddly enough I loved the effect. Awesome coincidence!

I love this mani so much! It is definitely my favorite to date. It's fun, shows off different techniques, and is my most successful nail art to date. Love love love it! Definitely proud of myself, for my improvements with nail art!

Must do more nail art (especially the spun sugar type!)

Until next time.

One Year Blogaversary!

Hello Readers:

Today is my ONE YEAR BLOGAVERSARY! YAY! One year ago today I began my little journey into the world of Indie Nail Polish, and boy what a journey it has been. There were ups and downs, but mainly ups as I have had a ton of fun along the way.

I have encountered many lovely polish enthusiasts like myself, discovered MANY AMAZING makers (too many to name!), and have dipped into so many types of polish (ie. glitter, crème, jelly, textured, matte, glow-in-the-dark, etc). It's just amazing what can go from an idea into a little bottle, and onto my nails.

I have a wonderful giveaway planned for my one year blogaversary, but it will be a downer to certain people as this time around I must limit my giveaway. I know I usually have giveaways open internationally, but this time around I have to limit it to USA and Canada only. I apologize but there is a lot of things going on right now, and I just can't afford the shipping costs. If you have someone in either country that will mule for you then please do feel free to enter, but otherwise just USA and Canada.

Now onto the two lovely prizes I have available to win.

Prize number one includes: Gloss48 Exclusive Literary Lacquer "Mr. Darcy and Ms. Bennett" limited edition duo, Colors by Llarowe "Young Turks", SeaLore Polish "Crushin' It", and BKD Signature "Space Sauce" ring.

I kept the duo in their original packaging so I have a photo of the duo from the one posted on Literary Lacquer's Facebook page when she announced the sale.

Prize number two includes: My Ten Friends "Starry Night", Darling Diva Polish limited edition glitter topper "Shop Til Ya Drop", SeaLore Polish limited edition glow-in-the-dark "Seafetti", Colors by Llarowe "Polishing Under the Influence", and BKD Signature "Mr. Universe" Tree of Life necklace.

Disclaimer: All prizes were bought by me for you. This giveaway is open to USA and Canada residents only, but I will ship to a mule if someone international has one. Once the prize is in the hands of the postal service I am no longer responsible for it. The giveaway will run until the end of the month. The winners will have 48hrs to contact once the email has been sent. Thank you all and Good luck!

Grim Grinning Ghosts Duo

Hello Readers:

I have an awesome collaboration duo to show you today, and it even includes a new-to-me brand! (woot woot!) Today's duo is called Grim Grinning Ghosts which the makers based off of the Disney ride 'The Haunted Mansion'. The Lady Varnishes created one of the polishes, and Sweet Heart Polish created the other.

First, a little about Sweet Heart Polish. Sweet Heart Polish is a 5free, cruelty free, gluten free, vegan friendly brand. Recently, Sweet Heart Polish has also begun donating $1 from every bottle sale to charity.

Now, onto the polishes. Up first is the polish Sweet Hear Polish created, entitled "Hurry Ba-ack". "Hurry Ba-ack" is a black jelly based polish with neon green, blue and purple hex glitter, tiny iridescent glitter and a splash of holo.

I wish my indoor shots had turned out better, I just couldn't seem to find a good way to light the polish without all that glare on it. So I apologize for not doing this polish justice. It is very lovely, I absolutely love the bright colored glitter! I used three coats over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat. If you want to do less layers you can layer this over a dark base coat. The application was a teeny bit thick, also it chipped rather easily. Overall, a great polish and am intrigued to try out other Sweet Heart Polishes in the future.

Now onto The Lady Varnishes polish entitled: "Welcome, Foolish Mortals". "Welcome, Foolish Mortals" is a murky green based polish with different sized iridescent glitter, and even glows in the dark!

I must apologize once again. I was unable to obtain glow in the dark photos of this polish. My camera just won't do that kind of photo. Anyhoo, this polish is wonderful! I must admit that it is my favorite of the two (and not just because it glows in the dark). This polish is just so different from all of my other polishes that I lean towards this one more. I used three coats of polish over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat. I had no application issues.

This duo was limited edition so it is no longer available but check out the makers shops to see their other wonderful polishes: Sweet Heart Polish & The Lady Varnishes

Until next time.
