Quick Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I wanted to do some quick nail art and had wanted to try this design for awhile so I thought this would be a great time to do so. In this mani I've used: Colors By Llarowe's "Oorah!" and "Penny For Your Thoughts" plus BMC Stamping Polish in Gold for the nail art.

Sadly, not enough sun to really capture the holo of the CbL's, but you get a sneak peek at least. I love how my ring finger turned out, but for the life of me I couldn't get my middle finger to come out how I wanted. I redid it a few times, and just gave up and settled on what is shown here (which isn't awful but just not what I wanted). Oh, and on a side note, while I was redoing my middle finger I noticed that Color's by Llarowe "Penny For Your Thoughts" had stained my nails *sad face*. No bare nails for me for awhile.

Nonetheless, I love this mani, and adore the colors! It may not be Christmas yet but I have so many holiday art swimming around in my head I wanted to get a jump start on it. So I did two coats of base colors, and then used my nail art brush to paint on the gold design.

Out of curiosity, do any of you have tips for getting stains off nails? I can get most of the stains off with lemon juice but some of it still remains. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Until next time.

Cemetary Scene Nail Art

Hello Readers:

During my recent giveaway I took a small survey of what kind of nail art you'd be interested in seeing more of. First, thank you all for your feedback I really appreciate it! ^_^ Second, I may not get to all of them but I will definitely try to. I noticed that many asked to see more freehand art, my most dreaded of nail arts hahaha as I have very low artistic abilities, but I thought I'd give it another go anyway. As my skills in freehand are minimal I decided to stick to simple forms.

Today, I'll be showing you a very simple cemetery scene that I did entirely freehand using Above the Curve's "Hufflepuff" and a BMC black stamping polish (for some reason I couldn't find my go to black polish).

I used two coats of Above the Curve's "Hufflepuff" over a clear base coat, freehanded the ground, tree, bats, gravestone, and fence with black, then added a clear top coat. In hindsight I wish I had used a matte topcoat instead because I think that would've looked cool, but oh well next time.

Overall I think it turned out well, but boy do my tree skills need work haha. Certain forms didn't turn out so well with my shaky hands but I think you can tell what each picture is supposed to be. So all in all a success.

Any tips for freehanding trees? I can never seem to get the delicate tiny branches. I keep getting stuck with thick knarly ones.

Until next time,
-Andi

Toothpick Splatter Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I've got some nail art to share with you today! ^_^ Full disclosure though, it was originally supposed to be a spun sugar nail art mani, but things went horribly wrong so I turned it into toothpick splatter art instead.

For my polishes in this mani I used 4 polishes from Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection. For my base color I used Ravenclaw, and for my splatter colors I used, Expecto Patronum, Wingardium Leviosa, and Polyjuice Potion.

Still mostly cloudy weather here, but the sun did a little sneak peek for me for some of the photos. My original plan didn't work out, but I still like how it turned out. It's fun and playful and I like the colors. Definitely loving my HP ATC collection! ^_^

I've got more ideas for nail art, including more Halloween nail art. Hopefully I'll be able to showcase more nail art soon. Oh! And don't forget there is still two days left to enter my giveaway, so go put in your entries: HERE.

Until next time.

Dippin Into Halloween Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I've been dying to do some nail art lately, and recently I had the opportunity to do so. I was even able to use some of Above the Curve's Harry Potter inspired collection. I wanted to go with a fun "bump in the night" feeling and I think it turned out great!

Full sunlight (midday lighting)

In this mani I used Above the Cruve's "Sirius Black" and "Polyjuice Potion" polishes as my base colors, both of which glow in the dark. I made my own decals using stamping plates BM-H06 and MoYou Sci-Fi 01 with BMC white stamping polish which I went over with ATC "Polyjuice Potion", which went on my thumb and middle fingers.

For my index finger I added some red gemstones. For my ring finger I used the "spun sugar" technique which was so easy and fun I'm mad at myself for not doing it sooner! Completely love it! For my baby finger I used some striping tape to help make stripes, when I went to take the tape off I saw the color from the tape leeched onto my polish, and oddly enough I loved the effect. Awesome coincidence!

I love this mani so much! It is definitely my favorite to date. It's fun, shows off different techniques, and is my most successful nail art to date. Love love love it! Definitely proud of myself, for my improvements with nail art!

Must do more nail art (especially the spun sugar type!)

Until next time.

Dotticure With Ruby White Tips

Hello Readers:

Gosh things have not been going my way the passed few days, my photos turned out horrible for two manis, and then I had a string of under the weather days which means back to the doctor next week for me. Today was a good day for me though so onto my mani today.

Today I have a dotticure for you! (Yay more nail art!) I don't do many polka dot mani's as I always feel my polka dots don't turn out aesthetically pleasing to my eye, but I really wanted to try this one out. I used all Ruby White Tips polishes for this mani, and use dotting tools to create my polka dots.

I really like the way this one turned out! A definite improvement over my other dotticures. I absolutely LOVE the colors! As my base color I used Ruby White Tips "Lil Drac" from their Batworld.org charity collection. For my polka dots I used "Peekaboo" (also from the Batworld charity collection) and "Crotchless Panties For Everyone".

A portion of each bottle sold from the Batworld collection goes towards helping the cute lil bats at Bat World Sancutary. For more information about Bat World check out their website.

If you would like to add some lovely Ruby White Tips polishes to your collection check out their Etsy shop.

Until next time.

Firework Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I was finally able to do some nail art, and really hope to find the time to do some more soon. :) In this nail art I used Lucky 13 Lacquer's "Purple Drank" which was a creation made by Iced Lacquer at a polish party Kyoti of Lucky 13 Lacquer hosted. The polish was such a hit and was released while supplies lasted. It is now sold out but can be requested if you don't mind the large dot glitter not being apart of the polish.

Anyways, onto the nail art. I have used Lucky 13 Lacquer's "Purple Drank" as a base and BMC Iced Silver Stamping Polish with Bundle Monster stamping plate BM-H14.

I'm really happy with how this turned out. It was my first time using the BMC stamping polishes so I wasn't sure how well they would work, but I think the polish worked very well for stamping. I'll definitely be trying more BMC stamping polishes in the future.

What do you think of the fireworks?

Until next time.

Review and Nail Art: "Soccer Mom" from Colors by Llarowe

Hello Readers:

I have a beautiful polish to show you today, plus a little nail art I did to give it a little extra somethin' somethin'. Today's polish is from Colors by Llarowe's Summer 2014 collection.

"Soccer Mom" is a greyed baby blue crelly polish with holo micro glitter.

Isn't this a GORGEOUS polish?!?! I love this shade of blue, and the sparkle is beautiful! I had no application issues at all. I used two coats of polish over a clear base coat, and no top coat in the above photos as I was going to add some nail bling (shown in photos below).

Once again I used my little nail gemstones to give a little bling to my mani, and I love it! I don't usually like yellow but I think this golden (citrine colored) gemstones went great with "Soccer Mom". Also this mani had great wear time. I don't usually wear a polish long enough to comment on wear time, but due to time restraints and me feeling a little under the weather I wore this mani for four (or maybe it was five) days, and I only had minor chipping on a couple of tips.

If you would like to purchase this polish you can find it at Llarowe.com, also if you are interested in nail gemstones I bought mine from Bundle Monster.

Until next time.
