Review: "Cosmic Christmas" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

Gosh things have been busy lately. I'm sure I'm not the only one getting busier with the holidays fast approaching. One thing I'm happy to have accomplished is that I only need to buy one more Christmas present and then I'm all done. ^_^  I had plans to go find the last one this weekend when the hubby and I attended one of the many wonderful Christmas markets here in Germany, but unfortunately we were told that he has to work this whole weekend *sad face*. So much for a four day weekend. Oh well... there's always next time.

Anyhoo, enough babbling, onto the beautiful polish. Today's polish is from My Ten Friends' Joy to the Worlds 2013 holiday collection: "Cosmic Christmas". I was having kind of a down day and wanted something to make me happy so I turned to a polish that would give me a happy memory of the holidays. "Cosmic Christmas" definitely fit the bill, it truly reminded me of going around the neighborhood at night to see all the pretty Christmas lights.

"Cosmic Christmas" is a blue jelly with red, blue and green hex glitter in different sizes and some holographic shimmer.

Just looking at the photos as I write this gives me the warm and fuzzies. SO MANY FEELS! This polish makes me remember all the wonderful times of touring the neighborhoods to see the wonderful Christmas displays. You don't see that too much here in Germany, but that's why we visit their Christmas markets. That's where it's all out Christmas! Plus some delicious food and cute trinkets. Love this polish so much!!! It went on smooth and easy. Definitely turn the bottle upside down for a bit (I'd say a minimum of ten minutes) so you don't have to fish for the big glitter. I used three coats of polish over a clear base coat and a clear top coat. Unfortunately I did experience some shrinkage (I really can't wait for my Seche Vite bottle to be empty so I can buy a better one!), usually I can negate shrinkage by adding polish to my tips but this time around I didn't add enough so you can still notice it.

Still, I can't say enough wonderful things about this polish. It is so pretty, and definitely great for that holiday feel! I don't know whether this polish will be released again this year or not. You'll have to keep an eye on My Ten Friends' FB Page for more info, until then you can find some of their other wonderful polishes over at their website.

How about all of you...do any of y'all have a polish that gives you warm and fuzzy feelings? (whether its for the holidays or just something special in general?) I'd love to hear about them!

Until next time.

"War Of The Worlds" From My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I have a special polish to show you today. Last year My Ten Friends  helped a friend fund his kickstarter Banned Books For The Blind, and created two special polishes for it. A few months ago I did a post for the first polish Frankenstein, and today I'll show you "War of the Worlds".

"War of the Worlds" is a blood red jelly with large black hexes, medium black, red and holo hexes, plus some black and holo microglitter and a smattering of iridescent flakies. OH! And it glows in the dark too ^_^

I loooooove this <3 I of course have a special place in my heart for glitterbombs, and this one is such a great one for this time of year. The color is fabulous and the glow in the dark is great! (Sadly of course my camera sucks at capturing glow in the darks so I have none to show, but it is there). I used three coats of polish over a clear base coat, and a top coat. You could totally get away with two coats but I wanted I darker red so I added a third coat.

This polish is not for sale, but My Ten Friends still has many awesome polishes to choose from over at their website.

I'm starting to get ideas for some Halloween nail art I want to use this polish for, so look for that in the future. It won't be for a few weeks though since I'm headed for vacation in a few days, while I'm gone I won't have much web time so no posts but I'll pop in on my FB page from time to time. My giveaway will continue through my vacation so don't forget to get your entries in: HERE.

Unti next time.

One Year Blogaversary!

Hello Readers:

Today is my ONE YEAR BLOGAVERSARY! YAY! One year ago today I began my little journey into the world of Indie Nail Polish, and boy what a journey it has been. There were ups and downs, but mainly ups as I have had a ton of fun along the way.

I have encountered many lovely polish enthusiasts like myself, discovered MANY AMAZING makers (too many to name!), and have dipped into so many types of polish (ie. glitter, crème, jelly, textured, matte, glow-in-the-dark, etc). It's just amazing what can go from an idea into a little bottle, and onto my nails.

I have a wonderful giveaway planned for my one year blogaversary, but it will be a downer to certain people as this time around I must limit my giveaway. I know I usually have giveaways open internationally, but this time around I have to limit it to USA and Canada only. I apologize but there is a lot of things going on right now, and I just can't afford the shipping costs. If you have someone in either country that will mule for you then please do feel free to enter, but otherwise just USA and Canada.

Now onto the two lovely prizes I have available to win.

Prize number one includes: Gloss48 Exclusive Literary Lacquer "Mr. Darcy and Ms. Bennett" limited edition duo, Colors by Llarowe "Young Turks", SeaLore Polish "Crushin' It", and BKD Signature "Space Sauce" ring.

IMG Source: Literary Lacquer

I kept the duo in their original packaging so I have a photo of the duo from the one posted on Literary Lacquer's Facebook page when she announced the sale.

Prize number two includes: My Ten Friends "Starry Night", Darling Diva Polish limited edition glitter topper "Shop Til Ya Drop", SeaLore Polish limited edition glow-in-the-dark "Seafetti", Colors by Llarowe "Polishing Under the Influence", and BKD Signature "Mr. Universe" Tree of Life necklace.

Disclaimer: All prizes were bought by me for you. This giveaway is open to USA and Canada residents only, but I will ship to a mule if someone international has one. Once the prize is in the hands of the postal service I am no longer responsible for it. The giveaway will run until the end of the month. The winners will have 48hrs to contact once the email has been sent. Thank you all and Good luck!

Throwback Thursday: "Elsewhen" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I forgot to mention this in my last post but July is here! And guess what that means?!? It will be my ONE YEAR BLOGAVERSARY this month! So I thought for the month of July I will do throwback Thursday's where I will show my progress from some of my very first mani's. I have come so far, and continue to make progress with my skills every day.

To start off, we'll go back to the beginning. My first ever mani, with my first ever Indie and consequently my very first My Ten Friends polish. Ah, so many firsts with this polish. The one that started it all: "Elsewhen"

First, some old photos to show where I began: Original Post

As you can see I was as noob as noob could be. I didn't know about the macro setting on my camera so it's all blurry, I didn't know about cropping or water marking (the second photo had been edited after the original post was published when I learned about cropping and labeling). I also has nubbie nubs but that was also because I couldn't grow my nails out yet due to recent eye surgery I didn't want to accidentally poke myself in the eye with long nails.

And now updated photos with this near and dear to my heart polish:

What a difference eh? ^_^ I'm quite proud of myself with the progress I've made in a year. I'm still learning new things every day, and am continuing to improve. I'm also developing my nail art skills but I think that is something that will take me longer to learn since I've never been good at art in general. Still, I'm so happy with how things have come along and thank you to everyone who I have met in the nail community along the way. All the help, tips, tricks, and of course all the incredible polish has given me a beautiful hobby that I always get excited about.

Isn't this a better showcase of Elsewhen? I certainly think so. Are there any of my past mani's that you'd like me to redo to hopefully showcase it better as my skills improve? If so please do let me know and I'll add that to my throwback Thursday list.

Until next time.
-Andi

PS. As this is my blogaversary month do keep an eye out for my upcoming giveaway (which I think you'll love!)
