Unfortunate Close

Hello Readers:

I'm sorry to say that I actually won't be coming back from my hiatus. My day to day life just can't handle blogging for the foreseeable future and I don't want to leave you hanging any longer. I had a blast, but I just don't have the time to do it now.

Thanks for reading my blog, and coming along with me for my journey into indie nail polish and nail art. I still love indie polish, and paint my nails but sadly I just don't have the time for blogging now, and for the next year or two I know that isn't going to change. So I will no longer be updating  my blog. I will leave it up for people to still browse, but will be taking down my FB page by May.

Here is a final look at the last few mani's I've done.

First up is "Live Long And Prosper" from Lucky 13 Lacquer which was made in memorium for Leonard Nemoy, and donations will be made to one of his favorite charities (can't remember which one off hand) with the purchase of this polish. This polish is available in linear and scattered holo. Below the linear formula is shown.

Last up is "Putter" and "Pretty Bit" from Darling Diva Polish's new Pop Back To The 80's collection. If you're a fan of the Popples and/or neons you'll love this collection.

It has been a blast all. I'll see you around the FB indie polish communities. Maybe one day I'll pop back up, but no promises.

Tschuss and farewell,
-Andi

Special Charity Polish: "Purple Heart" from Darling Diva Polish

Hello Readers:

I have returned from my time away. My first post back I want to show you a limited edition charity polish from Darling Diva Polish. "Purple Heart" was created to help raise money for Disabled American Veterans (DAV) with 100% of the proceeds being donated.

Being a part of a military family this is near and dear to my heart, so I knew I had to try and grab a bottle. I was lucky and managed to snag one.

"Purple Heart" is a deep purple linear holo.

Inside Natural Light

Sadly I have had nothing but cloudy/rainy weather lately so I am unable to show the true holo glory of this polish, but you can at least get a glimpse of it from the indoor photos. I can't say enough good things about this gorgeous polish! I used two coats of it over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat.

"Purple Heart" also has amazing wear time. I put this polish on for my time away, and it didn't start chipping until day 5, and even then it was only minor chipping as I wore this polish for a week. "Purple Heart" is sold out but there are many other fabulous polishes over at Darling Diva Polish's website.

Until next time.

PS. Don't forget there are still 4 days left to enter my giveaway: HERE.

Review: "Peekaboo" from Ruby White Tips

Hello Readers:

So yesterday I threw out my back a bit, and have been resting as best I can today. I blame lugging the lawn mower around to cut the grass haha But at least my back held out until I was finished cutting the grass.

Today, I have a charity polish (yes another charity woo! ^_^ ) to share with you from Ruby White Tips (I know, I know it's been awhile since I featured this brand - not including some recent nail art). "Peekaboo" is from Ruby White Tips' Batworld Collection, where a portion of each polish from that collection goes towards Batworld.org's Bat Sanctuary where they rescue and rehabilitate bats. (Check out the link to learn more.)

"Peekaboo" is a dusty rose pink polish with iridescent microglitter and flakies. When I first bought this polish I didn't realize there were flakies, so when I applied it and saw the flakies I was super happy! (I have a soft spot for flakies ^_^ ).

The sparkle in this polish is great! The only thing I wish I had was a product I heard about (I think it's called a Smudge Remover... or something like that) that will take a thin layer of the polish off, just so you can better see the larger iridescent flakies as I found the polish tended to hide the bigger ones, but the little ones shone through very well. Otherwise this polish is fabulous! A great shade of pink with a wonderful sparkle!

I used two coats of polish over a clear base, and a clear top coat. I was originally going to do some stamping nail art over this polish but got distracted by the sparkle so next time I wear it!

If you would like to help out the furry lil bats over at Bat World Sanctuary by buying one of their polishes, or would like to see more of Ruby White Tips in general check out Laura's Etsy Shop.

Until next time.

Review: "Clear Skies" from Carpe Noctem Cosmetics

Hello Readers:

Today I have a charity polish to share with you. Carpe Noctem Cosmetics created "Clear Skies" as a limited edition polish to help raise money for the Red Cross for Tornado relief that ravaged many towns in the US on 6/14 - 6/18.

"Clear Skies" is a blue linear holo with a pink/violet color shift.

I'm really loving this shade of blue, it goes well with a ton of my outfits! And of course when have I ever said no to a holo? haha The only small issue (that to me isn't really an issue but annoying when trying to photograph) is that you can see the brush strokes when the pink/violet shift is dominant as you can see on my ring finger mostly, but it is only noticeable during that time which doesn't bother me personally I just think it took away from the beauty of the polish a little when photographing it.

I used two coats of "Clear Skies" over a clear base, and a clear top coat. There are still some stock of this left, so if you want to help out the Red Cross in their Tornado relief project, and want to snag an awesome polish in the process check out Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Etsy page

Emily also just released a new holo polish chalk full of spectraflair which has been aptly named "Rainbow Generator" plus other lovely polishes.

Until next time.

Review: "Hope For Langston Rose" from Lucky 13 Lacquer

Hello Readers:

Today I have a special charity polish for you from Lucky 13 Lacquer. Today's polish was created for and inspired by a young lady suffering from Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, Cerebral Palsy, and Epilepsy. For more information about the lovely Langston Rose and her charity please check out their Facebook page.

"Hope for Langston Rose" is a lilac based polish with small and medium hex glitter in emerald green and dark purple, and a splash of small white squares. Four dollars of every bottle purchased is donated to Langston's charity.

Sadly I have been having some very cloudy weather with only some peeks of sunshine so most of the photos are in the shade, with a couple that made it during the rare show of sun. I used two coats of "Hope For Langston Rose" with a clear base coat, and a clear top coat.

Shade

The sun is peeking out a bit

I wish I wasn't having such crappy weather to better show just how beautiful this polish is! I'm a sucker for purple polishes but this one is extra special since you get to help out a special young lady as well. The photos where the sun is actually peeking out show the color of this polish the best as the lilac base is a delicate shade of purple. It goes on easy and smooth, no digging for glitter needed, and the opacity builds up well on its own.

Even if this wasn't a charity polish I would have still jumped to add this polish to my collection it is so lovely! Definitely a must have and great for spring/summer. I may have to put this back on the first chance I get when the sun finally shows itself again.

If you would like to have your own bottle of this beautiful polish head on over to Lucky 13 Lacquer. Kyoti has some other lovely charity polishes as well, along with her other awesome collections.

Until next time.

Review: "Star Bright" from My Ten Friends

I apologize that I'm posting this so late (well late for me it is almost 10 in the evening). My husband took the week off from work, and I have been running around doing errands, then was so tired I kick backed and watched some tv to relax and forgot I meant to post this review.

Today's review is a special polish. It is a charity polish from My Ten Friends, made in memory of Talia Joy. Twenty percent of the proceeds of this polish go to the Base Camp charity for cancer research. Sadly, when Talia passed I was still quite new to the beauty scene (including indie polish), so I had no idea she had such an impact on the community until I saw many indie polish brands starting to create polishes in her memory. I love that everyone was doing this, it was such a sweet gesture for someone who seemed like such an amazing young woman.

So when My Ten Friends came out with Star Brite I knew I had to have it, not just because it was a charity polish (though I am a sucker for charity polishes) but because it was stunning even just in the bottle. It also had the fun part of glowing in the dark!
1 coat elmer's glue, 2 coats polish, 1 clear top coat
Star Bright is a sheer mint based polish with teal, white and silver glitter (including STARS ^_^). This polish does glow in the dark but sadly I was unable to capture the glow with my lil canon snapshot camera. I'll keep trying to fiddle with the settings but I think my camera just inside high tech enough to capture those kinds of shots.

This polish went on very smoothly. At first I had to fish for stars but I found that if I turned the bottle upside down in between layers I could get the stars more freely. This polish is recommended to be worn over a colored base but I chose to see what it looked like on its own. I think its quite lovely on its own, but I have to agree that this polish would really pop layered over a colored base which is what I think I will do the next time I wear this polish. Otherwise though, this polish is a real stunner!

This polish is so lovely, and fun. I get a little giddy every time I see the stars. The name even reminds me of Rainbow Bright, which I used to love watching when I was little! If you'd like to add this polish to your collection keep an eye on My Ten Friends Facebook page to find out when it will be restocked.

Until next time
