Review: "Carbon Based Life Form" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

Today I've gone back to a brand near and dear to my heart (this brand was my first ever indie brand), My Ten Friends. I'll be reviewing "Carbon Based Life Form" a nude polish filled with silver, iridescent, and holo glitter. Definitely a nude with bling bling (as Mei-Lynn puts it).

Within the past couple of months I've really been getting into nude polishes and this one has definitely taken the cake! It is sooo gorgeous! It is a great nude for any skin tone and has that bling bling sparkle that I've come to know and love from My Ten Friends.

Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?!? It has definitely become my favorite nude polish! If you'd like to add this beauty to your collection you can check out their website for this and other fabulous polishes!

I have a busy weekend coming up (as I'm sure most of you do as well for this Easter holiday), so there won't be any more posts till Sunday when I show you my Easter nail art.

Until next time.

Double Review: "Have Some Candy" and "Sour Bill" from The Lady Varnishes

Hello Readers:

NEW (to me) BRAND ALERT! I bring to you today two polishes from The Lady Varnishes. The Lady Varnishes (TLV) is a 5free and cruelty free brand. At the beginning of every month TLV releases their (Disney) villain polish with an option for their mini minion polish with minimum purchase. I'm a huge Disney fan, so when I found out about TLV's Disney villain polishes I knew I had to check it out. When I saw that March's villain was King Candy (and his minion Sour Bill) from Wreck It Ralph I knew they had to be mine!! Warning this post will be pic heavy!

IMG source: Disney.wikia.com

The first polish, inspired by King Candy, is called "Have Some Candy". It is a bubblegum pink polish with a mix of different sized green, purple and pink hex glitter. Oh! Also it smells likes bubblegum when its dry! That is a special feature The Lady Varnishes offers with each polish. If desired she will add a scent to your polish, and each polish has a list of scents to choose from.

Isn't this polish GORGEOUS!! And so FUN!!! It totally screams Wreck It Ralph and King Candy!! Woooo! (Can you tell I'm a Wreck It Ralph fan? lol) As I have said before I don't even like pink but this polish is so fitting and fabulous I looooove it! This is two coats of Have Some Candy with no undies and no top coat.

Next up is "Sour Bill" which is the mini minion polish, and is packed full of bright green hex and circle glitter in a clear base. This one didn't come with a designated scent but she was nice enough to add a peppermint smell to it for me (so when I wore both at the same time my fingers smelled like minty bubblegum).

Once again another fabulous polish!!! This is one coat of "Sour Bill" over two coats of "Have Some Candy" and  a clear top coat. As you can see the green glitter topper lessens the POW pink of "Have Some Candy" but I think it covers up the other pretty colored glitter of "Have Some Candy" so I probably wouldn't wear this over it again but I would use it to accompany it (like shown in the next set of photos).

I usually show a full mani of polishes on their own (even if just a glitter topper) but this time around I will be honest and I forgot so this time I just went back and redid one nail to show "Sour Bill" on it own.

The above pictures show three coats of "Sour Bill" on its own on my index fingers, and one coat of "Sour Bill" over two coats of "Have Some Candy". I actually ADORE "Sour Bill" on its own and the next time I wear it I will use it alongside "Have Some Candy" instead of layering it over top.

But overall this is how I feel about these polishes:

These polishes are absolutely FABULOUS! Sadly they were only available for the month of March but if you are a Disney freak like me you can check out her Disney villain for this month which is inspired by Madam Mim from Sword in the Stone. OR! If you'd love to check out some of her other wonderful polishes you can visit her website.

Until next time.

Review: "Violets Are Blue" from Darling Diva Polish

Hello Readers:

Today I bring to you the second half of the We're All Darling Divas duo. This one is called "Violets Are Blue" and it is a vibrant pink holo with blue flecks. This post may be a bit picture heavy.

Now I'm not usually one for pink, and I was 90% sure I was going to end up giving this polish to my niece since I'm not a pink gal, but once I had this in my possession I just had to try it on. WOWZA! This polish really sparkles (as you can somewhat tell from my photos which are all full sunlight except for the first two). The blue flecks are also such a lovely touch (which wasn't very photograph friendly though luckily it shows up in some of my photos).

This polish has totally won me over (though I will admit that Cotton Candy Hangover is still my favorite of the two since I'm a real sucker for purple). I have definite plans in mind for some nail art with this duo, my first attempt didn't work but I will be trying again in the future.

If you would like to check out other Daring Diva Polish's you can check out their website and/or if you are already a fan of Carrie's polishes and would like to join her fan group and a chance at possible customs in the future feel free to join the FB group: We're All Darling Divas.

Until next time.

World Parkinson's Day Nail Art

Hello Readers:

As some of you know I was invited to join Nailpolis, a community where we can share our nail art creations. They put up a challenge to help spread awareness of Parkinson's Disease.

Excerpt from Nailpolis: "Today is World Parkinson's Day, and Nailpolis artists are raising awareness and showing their support! Parkinson's disease (PD) affects millions of people in the world. Parkinson's Disease involves the loss of nerve cells in the brain, leaving a person unable to control movement normally. Our hearts are with the brave people who are fighting Parkinson's. The Parkinson's Disease Foundation has personally reached out to Nailpolis, thanking each and every one of you for showing your support through your artwork and donations."

Showing support for World Parkinson's Day is represented by a blue ribbon and/or a red tulip, and in the spirit of spreading awareness I came up with the nail art below.

In this mani I used Delush Polish's "Bare To Be Bold" as my base, then I freehanded the blue ribbons using Different Dimension's "The Lovers, The Dreamers, And Me". I also freehanded the tulips using BB Couture's "Sloth", and Darling Diva Polish's "Green Diamond".

Overall I think this mani came out pretty well for my third time freehanding nail art. Practice makes perfect for sure!

If you would like to learn more about Nailpolis and the Parkinsons Disease foundation check out Nailpolis' Facebook or their website.

Until next time.

Review: "Cotton Candy Hangover" from Darling Diva Polish

Hello Readers:

I have something special to show y'all today, a special polish from Darling Diva Polish. Carrie created a special duo for the members of her fan group We're All Darling Divas on FB. The first one I'm going to show you is called "Cotton Candy Hangover" a blurple holo polish.

This post is going to be a bit picture heavy as I just couldn't narrow down the ones I wanted to show for this fabulous polish!

Isn't it just gorgeous?!?!? I'm so in love with this! I used two coats over a clear base coat, and a top coat. I couldn't stop thinking about this polish since I received it, and knew I had to wear it first. Cotton Candy Hangover goes on easy and smooth, and is definitely one I will be wearing every chance I get.

Although this is not available, if you'd like to be able to get in on future group custom polishes, feel free to join us over at the FB fan group: We're All Darling Divas. Or if you'd like to check out Carrie's other fabulous creations you can check out her shop: Darling Diva Polish.

Until next time
