Double Review: "Clairvoyant Visitor" and "Glitter A Peel" from Nail Pattern Boldness

Hello Readers:

NEW (to me) BRAND ALERT! I have a couple creations from Nail Pattern Boldness. First off is a polish from their Magpie inspired collection. "Clairvoyant Visitor" is a gunmetal grey micro glitter polish with pink and magenta accents, and is a 3free and cruelty free polish. I used 3 coats over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat.

Isn't this polish GORGEOUS!?!? I LOVE how this polish is so packed full of glitter that it can be worn on its own, and has a textured look to it. I first saw these polishes over at one of my personal favorite blogs Accio Lacquer, and knew I had to get my hands on them. I have found a new love in textured polishes, and can't wait to get my hands on more of them (including more of the Magpie collection which has an array of different colored micro glitter polishes).

Just to reiterate in case I didn't get it across before lol... <3 <3 <3 Clairvoyant Visitor.

Now onto the next polish, "Glitter A Peel". If you are a fan of heavy glitter polishes like me, you know just how much of a pain it is to remove them. I know that the most tried and true method for removal is to soak a cotton ball in acetone place it on the polished nail and wrap some tin foil over it, and let it soak for 3-4mins and the polish should stick to the cottonball. However, I cannot use harsh chemicals like acetone as my skin reacts to harsh chemicals, so I had to go in search of an alternative.

I have used Elmer's Glue as a base coat for glitter polishes as they will peel off whole, no fuss no muss and no chemicals. However I find that the glue tends to take awhile to dry (and sometimes I'm just too impatient to wait for it to dry), and I found if used a lot in succession that it made my nails peel. So while still better than the foil method, I still needed to find something similar.

In comes "Glitter A Peel". It is a quick drying base coat that allows you to peel off polish, and as an FYI this polish is only a 2free polish as it does contain Toluene.

You'll want to use either one thick coat or two coats of this base polish before applying your nail polish of choice, otherwise it will just chip off rather come off whole. All in all this is a great base coat for glitter polishes and I'm very happy with it. Do I wish it was 3free? Yes. Am I going to stop using it because it has toluene? No. Will I buy it again? Yes, though I would like to try other brands who make a peel base as well.

Remember, when you are ready to remove your polish to use an orange stick (or whatever cuticle pusher you have) to gently push the polish away either from the sides or cuticle area.  It is tempting to use your own nails (and I am guilty of this on countless occasions) but you risk damaging your nails, and risk breaking the polish off in chips when you use your own nails to peel it away.

This is a great product though and I do recommend it to others who love to wear glitter polishes like I do. If you would like to try out this base coat or some of their other fabulous polishes check out Nail Pattern Boldness' website, Etsy, or their stockist: Llarowe.

Until next time.

Happy Earth Day! Review plus Nail Art

Hello Readers:

Happy Earth Day! I have some lovely Earth Day inspired polish, plus a little nail art to go with it. First is my review of the Earth Day inspired polish. It is from the lovely Shawn and Angel over at Above The Curve. They aptly named the LE (limited edition) polish "We Are The World". We Are The World is a blue jelly with different sizes of blue, green and iridescent hexes and circle glitter.

I think "We Are The World" is a great representation of our mother Earth! It goes on smooth and easy. I used three coats by itself, with a clear top coat. The larger glitter is hard to get out if you don't turn the bottle upside down for a bit so please remember to do that (I was silly and forgot so I didn't get too many of the large circles but they weren't too hard to fish for either).

I'll definitely be keeping this polish around for the times I need earth/water inspired polishes, or anytime I just need something blue and pretty to look at!

Below are a couple photos of the nail art I tried out for an Earth Day inspired mani.

In this mani I used "We Are The World" as my base coat, and Dollish Polish's "Baby Gravy" for my tree accent nail. For my first attempt at freehanding a tree I think it turned out pretty good. After looking at other people's freehanded trees I know where I went wrong, but I think it turned out pretty well!

If you'd like to get this LE polish from Above The Curve there are still a few available from their BigCartel Shop or if you'd like to check out some of their other great polishes. Remember: no matter which polish you buy a portion of the proceeds go to charity!

Also, if you're interested in any of Dolly's fabulous polishes you can check out the Dollish Polish website.

Until next time.

Easter Egg Nail Art

Hello Readers:

Happy Easter to all! I hope the Easter bunny has brought you a goodie or two (chocolate or otherwise). Today I've tried my hand at some nail art to make my nails look like decorative Easter Eggs. In this mani I've used Picture Polish's "Honey Dew", Above the Curve's "This One's For My Peeps", Delush Polish's "It Takes Two To Mango", Dollish Polish's "Slippery When Wet", "Skeet Skeet Skeet", and "Dining At The Pink Taco".

I hand painted the stripes and chevrons, and used a dotting tool for the polka dots. I love the colors but I wish I hadn't used all shimmers on my ring finger. I think it needed at least one crème for some balance like the rest of them. Otherwise I think this mani turned out pretty well. I really love the colors!

Have you done some easter inspired nail art? What style(s) did you come up with for the occasion?

Until next time.

Review: "Carbon Based Life Form" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

Today I've gone back to a brand near and dear to my heart (this brand was my first ever indie brand), My Ten Friends. I'll be reviewing "Carbon Based Life Form" a nude polish filled with silver, iridescent, and holo glitter. Definitely a nude with bling bling (as Mei-Lynn puts it).

Within the past couple of months I've really been getting into nude polishes and this one has definitely taken the cake! It is sooo gorgeous! It is a great nude for any skin tone and has that bling bling sparkle that I've come to know and love from My Ten Friends.

Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?!? It has definitely become my favorite nude polish! If you'd like to add this beauty to your collection you can check out their website for this and other fabulous polishes!

I have a busy weekend coming up (as I'm sure most of you do as well for this Easter holiday), so there won't be any more posts till Sunday when I show you my Easter nail art.

Until next time.

Double Review: "Have Some Candy" and "Sour Bill" from The Lady Varnishes

Hello Readers:

NEW (to me) BRAND ALERT! I bring to you today two polishes from The Lady Varnishes. The Lady Varnishes (TLV) is a 5free and cruelty free brand. At the beginning of every month TLV releases their (Disney) villain polish with an option for their mini minion polish with minimum purchase. I'm a huge Disney fan, so when I found out about TLV's Disney villain polishes I knew I had to check it out. When I saw that March's villain was King Candy (and his minion Sour Bill) from Wreck It Ralph I knew they had to be mine!! Warning this post will be pic heavy!

IMG source: Disney.wikia.com

The first polish, inspired by King Candy, is called "Have Some Candy". It is a bubblegum pink polish with a mix of different sized green, purple and pink hex glitter. Oh! Also it smells likes bubblegum when its dry! That is a special feature The Lady Varnishes offers with each polish. If desired she will add a scent to your polish, and each polish has a list of scents to choose from.

Isn't this polish GORGEOUS!! And so FUN!!! It totally screams Wreck It Ralph and King Candy!! Woooo! (Can you tell I'm a Wreck It Ralph fan? lol) As I have said before I don't even like pink but this polish is so fitting and fabulous I looooove it! This is two coats of Have Some Candy with no undies and no top coat.

Next up is "Sour Bill" which is the mini minion polish, and is packed full of bright green hex and circle glitter in a clear base. This one didn't come with a designated scent but she was nice enough to add a peppermint smell to it for me (so when I wore both at the same time my fingers smelled like minty bubblegum).

Once again another fabulous polish!!! This is one coat of "Sour Bill" over two coats of "Have Some Candy" and  a clear top coat. As you can see the green glitter topper lessens the POW pink of "Have Some Candy" but I think it covers up the other pretty colored glitter of "Have Some Candy" so I probably wouldn't wear this over it again but I would use it to accompany it (like shown in the next set of photos).

I usually show a full mani of polishes on their own (even if just a glitter topper) but this time around I will be honest and I forgot so this time I just went back and redid one nail to show "Sour Bill" on it own.

The above pictures show three coats of "Sour Bill" on its own on my index fingers, and one coat of "Sour Bill" over two coats of "Have Some Candy". I actually ADORE "Sour Bill" on its own and the next time I wear it I will use it alongside "Have Some Candy" instead of layering it over top.

But overall this is how I feel about these polishes:

These polishes are absolutely FABULOUS! Sadly they were only available for the month of March but if you are a Disney freak like me you can check out her Disney villain for this month which is inspired by Madam Mim from Sword in the Stone. OR! If you'd love to check out some of her other wonderful polishes you can visit her website.

Until next time.
