Review: "February 2014" from Enchanted Polish)

Hello Readers:

I have a new (to me) brand for you today. It is the ever lucrative
Enchanted Polish. There is a lot of hype surrounding Enchanted Polish and so I had to check out what is all about. Enchanted Polish is a 3free, cruelty free brand. The owner of the brand does one time preorders for her monthly polishes, and randomly does orders for her mainline of polishes, but never has a steady stream of polishes available for her own personal reasons (just so you're not disappointed if you go to her site and find nothing available).

This year she has dubbed her "mysteries" year, so every monthly polish this year will be a surprise color/shade/finish. On one hand I think this is a fun idea, and on the other I really prefer knowing what I'm buying (especially if I'm shelling out $16 a bottle) so, so far I have only bought one mystery polish and that is today's "February 2014" post.

"February 2014" is an orchid leaning plum purple holo polish.

This polish is so lovely! Absolutely beautiful! I'm actually sad it took me so long to try it, but you know how it is when you have so many pretties you want to try out... others get put aside and forgotten about for awhile.

This is two coats over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat. I had no application issues, and no staining. This polish is very lovely, but I guess I still don't quite understand all the hype over this brand because I have other polishes just as lovely from other brands but this is the brand that creates so much drama in the polish community. Maybe because there's only one shot at getting the monthlies? and the other mainline polishes are even harder to get unless through a resale site?

I'm not entirely sure, but all the drama surrounding this brand aside, it is a great polish and I will be buying more Enchanted Polish in the future, but only occasionally as I really do prefer knowing what I'm buying (though a surprise is great once in awhile).

In fact (TONIGHT ONLY!!!) at 12PM PDT the preorders for May, June and July 2014 polishes will be on sale for ONE HOUR only. So check out the website to buy and sign up for the newsletter (for future restocks), and the Enchanted Polish Facebook page to also keep up to date on what's available and when.

Until we meet again.

"Bleak December" from The Lady Varnishes

Hello Readers:

I'm baaaack!! I had a fabulous vacation, but all that walking and travelling really did me in. I definitely needed those couple days of rest. So, now back into the swing of things :)

Today I bring to you "Bleak December" from The Lady Varnishes. It was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven".

Bleak December is a dusty blue polish with a mix of silver and gray shimmer, a smattering of holo pigment and some black micro glitter.

Isn't it just lovely?!? This may be more of a fall/winter shade rather than a summer one but it is just beautiful. I really love this shade, it kind of reminds me of a nice pair of blue jeans haha I used two coats of this polish over a coat of clear base coat, no top coat.

Sadly this polish has been discontinued but definitely go check out Kirsten's etsy shop to see some of her other fabulous polishes! (You won't be disappointed!)

I have so many great things to show you in the future it's great to be back :)

Until we meet again.

Review: "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I have another polish from My Ten Friends' Geek Speak Collection. Today I have the glitter topper polish aptly named "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby". "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" is also a limited edition polish.

"Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" is a glitter topper packed full of iridescent glitter in a bunch of different shapes, including hexes, shreds, and micro glitter.

Below are photos of the polish in 4 coats by itself over a clear base coat and no top coat.

In truth, when I first began applying this polish I had completely forgotten this was the glitter topper of the collection. It wasn't until the third coat I remembered, but I still think it was worth it to show you the polish on its own. The iridescence is beautiful, but it turns into a stunner over a base coat.

Below are photos of "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" over "Quantum Singularity".

The photos show one coat of "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" over two coats of "Quantum Singularity". Isn't it just lovely?! I think the glitter topper brought this polish to a whole different level. But just wait until you see the next ones, the next set of photos are my favorite!

The below photos show "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" over "Area 51".

The photos show one coat of "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" over two coats of "Area 51". Isn't it lovely?!? I especially love "Gimme Some Sugar, Baby" over this paler shade but it really does look great over many shades. I think it'll give the most pop to shades of black, blue and purple though.

This polish is currently sold out, but definitely check out the My Ten Friends website to nab yourself some of their other incredible polishes.

Now this is my last post until I get back from holidays in a couple of weeks so be sure to keep an eye on my Facebook page to know when my next post will be.

Until we meet again.

Review: "Lune" from The Lady Varnishes

Hello Readers:

I have a lovely matte polish for you today, that's right a MATTE polish! (I'm pretty darn excited about it can you tell?!? LoL). It is from The Lady Varnishes' Middle Earth collection.

Lune is a pale blue polish with gold shimmer and sapphire microglitter that dries to a matte finish. The photos below show two coats of polish over a clear base coat, no top coat.

OOoo isn't it just BEAUTIFUL?!?! I am loving the matte, and the gold shimmer and just everything! So pretty! I can't wait to try out more of the Middle Earth collection just for all the matte finishes! I may need to buy a matte top coat just to have the option of matte finishes with any polish haha

If you would like this polish or to see some of The Lady Varnishes other great polishes (including the rest of the Middle Earth collection) go check out the Etsy shop.

Until we meet again.

Review: "Area 51" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I have another limited edition polish from My Ten Friends for you today. One of the two first holos ever made by this brand. This color is currently sold out, but it may come back for one more restock (keep an eye on their FB page linked above to know for sure).

"Area 51" is a grayish blue holo with pink shimmer (though I like to say its a pale periwinkle). This polish also glows-in-the-dark! *squee* (yea.. I like glow in the dark polishes... hard to tell eh? lol). Sadly I have no photos of it glowing in the dark, no matter how hard I try my camera just doesn't like taking those kinds of photos. When I'm able to purchase a new camera I'll get one that can take some.

Anyhoo, on to the photos (which is the best part right??! haha)

Isn't is just GORGEOUS?!?! I think I may be just a little in love with this one. As much as I liked
Quantum Singularity, Area 51 captured my heart. Maybe because I feel the holo is showcased better in this pale base, maybe because I think this shade goes better with my skin tone, or maybe just because it's called Area 51 hahaha Either way this is my favorite of Mei-Lynn's two holo polishes. The photos show two coats over a clear base and no top coat.

Even though this polish is currently sold out if you'd like to check out what else My Ten Friends has to offer, check out their website.

Until we meet again.
