Review: "Crisp Autumn Air" from Above The Curve

Hello Readers:

Woo, so much rain today Readers, so much rain! It wants to snow so bad, but it just isn't quite cold enough. I just hope this rain doesn't freeze and turn to ice. That would suck, big time! I hope y'all are having better weather than I am.

Today's polish is from Above the Curve's "Best Things About Fall" Collection (Fall 2014 Collection), and is quite fitting for the weather we're currently having.

"Crisp Autumn Air" is a very light gray, almost white, holo (ah, the ongoing search for the ever elusive white holo).

I had some minor bubbling issues with this polish as you can see on a couple of nails, but overall this polish is lovely. I like that depending on how the light hits it, the polish looks more white or more gray. I think this makes it quite versatile. I used three coats of polish over a clear base coat, and no top coat. Opacity builds nicely, and goes on smooth.

I had no sunlight but was still able to capture some of the holo goodness of this polish. If I did have sunlight, just imagine how sparkly this would be!

If you'd like to add this lovely polish to your stash you can get it over at Above the Curve's Etsy Shop, who also donate a $1 of every polish sold to charity.

Until next time.

Review: "Cabaret" From Colors By Llarowe

Hello Readers:

Anyone else have a busy day of wrapping presents and filling out Christmas cards? Or was that just me? haha Oddly enough I enjoy doing that, except I forget to take a break and eat so I was crabby by the end of the day. I now have a full belly and am happy-go-lucky again. It's funny whenever I'm crabby my husbands first words are always "Have you eaten yet?" and it annoys me that he's usually right >P

And that is my personal tidbit for the day LoL Now onto the polish. Today, I have a polish from Colors by Llarowe's fall 2014 collection "Cabaret".

"Cabaret" is a clear based jelly with gold and silver flaked microglitter, and red, copper and rose shimmer.

I used two coats of "Cabaret" over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat. At the time I thought I had full coverage, but after looking at the photos I would recommend either a third coat of polish or some kind of undies. This is still a lovely polish, and I had no application issues. I love a good textured polish and this is definitely a great one for the fall months. It kind of reminds me of a campfire. Does this polish evoke nostalgic campfire memories in anyone else?

If you'd like to add this polish to your stash act now, it is on its last restock over at Llarowe.

Until next time.

Review: "Stormy Night" from Above the Curve

Hello Readers:

I hope all my American readers had a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday, and I hope that all my Non-American readers had a safe and happy weekend as well. I apologize again for not getting this up before the holiday started. I put too much on my own plate, and didn't have time to finish everything I wanted to do. I'm cutting back on my Christmas plans now in hopes the same thing won't happen, but as Christmas approaches things are definitely getting busy. Luckily I only have one present left to buy and my shopping will be all done. Have you all made a dent in your Christmas shopping? I hope you don't have to deal with the busy shops too much.

Now, onto the BEAUTIFUL polish I have to show you today. I originally wanted to use my Above the Curve 2014 Fall Collection on a sunny day so you can see the beautiful holo in all its glory, but it's just that time of year where the sunny days are few and far between. So I decided to start with this beauty that featured more than just holo glitter.

"Stormy Night" is a blackened blurple polish with multicolored flakies and shimmer throughout.

I used two coats of "Stormy Night" over a clear base coat, and a clear top coat. The first coat barely covered any of the nail so I was afraid this would end up being three or four coats but the second coat fully covered. Unfortunately I didn't showcase the flakies very well but they are there and they are lovely! Being a flaky fan I wanted even more flakies so I added two coats of "Spectrespec" from the Above the Curve Harry Potter inspired collection. Trying to capture the colors of "Spectrespec" was  an epic fail, but here is a blurry picture nonetheless just so you can see how glorious it can be in person (though not so much in the photo haha).

"Stormy Night" got a little muted because I went flakie happy with "Spectrespec" and did two coats of it instead of one but I really love both polishes! Stormy Night is such a great name for this dark blurple. It definitely reminds me of stormy weather, the flakies are beautiful and subtle at times, and sometimes the flakies are BAM! in your face like lightning can be. I think you just need to find a way to help clean the polish off the flakies when applying. I know there is a product out there that does this but unfortunately I do not have it in my possession.

Again, beautiful polishes! They're gorgeous and they have great wear time! Currently, both these polishes (and all the rest of their pretties) are on sale over at Above the Curve's Etsy Shop, but don't delay the sale will be over soon.

Until next time.

Review: "Phenomenal Woman" from Literary Lacquer

Hello Readers:

It has been way too long since I showed something from Literary Lacquer (bad me!). So today I have a wonderful autumn shade for you today.

"Phenomenal Woman" was created by The Jedi Wife, and inspired by her favorite poem: Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou (click here for poem). The polish is a burgundy holo with a bit of a purple color shift.

Such a wonderful burgundy holo! I had no application issues or staining. I used two coats of polish over clear base coat, and a clear top coat. Definitely a great polish to kick off this lovely fall weather!

If you would like to own this polish, or to just check out more fabulous polishes from Amy over at Literary Lacquer, then please check out her Etsy Shop.

Until next time.
