Turtle Shell Nail Art

Hello Readers:

I know it's been awhile, but I have some nail art for you today. My vacation is fast approaching so I haven't had much time to do anything other than swatches. Today's nail art inspiration is turtles. I tried doing the look of turtle shells using stamping plate MASH-49, Girly Bits "Giggity Giggity Goo" and Picture Polish "Mallard".

Overall I really like how this turned out. I especially love the flakies from Mallard, it adds an awesome effect to the look. I only wish there were more flakies lol

Like I said earlier my vacation is fast approaching, the end of next week is the start of it. I'll continue with my regular posts until then but there won't be any more nail art until I get back from vacation when things will finally slow down.

Until we meet again.

Review: "Shimmering Waters" from Colors By Llarowe

Hello Readers:

NEW (to me) BRAND ALERT! I'm very ashamed it has taken me this long to try out this brand, but the fact is now I have. Colors By Llarowe is a indie brand made by the owner of the nail polish stockist website Llarowe. Colors By Llarowe are a 5free and cruelty free brand.

Today I'm going to show you "Shimmering Waters" from their Spring 2014 collection. "Shimmering Waters" is a pale blue holo with micro turquoise glitter and small turquoise hex glitter. I used two coats of polish over a clear base coat, no top coat.

The photos start with indoor shots and move to outdoor shots. Isn't it just GORGEOUS?!? Love, love, love this polish! Sadly, my photos aren't getting good shots of the turquoise undertones from the micro glitter and small hexes but trust me its beautiful!

The application was easy and smooth, definitely no complaints. I can't wait to try more from this brand (I just ordered some of their summer 2014 collection).

This particular polish has been discontinued but Colors By Llarowe is doing a preorder for their Summer 2014 collection today at 12pm MDT which has MANY fabulous looking polishes (I was hard put which to pick and choose from so many polishes). If you'd like to order some head on over to Llarowe.

Until we meet again.

Review: "Quantum Singularity" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

It is Memorial Day weekend! Things have been so busy lately that I completely dropped the ball and forgot, so sadly I have no nail art to show you for this special day of remembrance. However, I have a special My Ten Friends polish for you today! Mei-Lynn usually makes glorious glitterbomb polishes, but she has decided to branch out and try her hand at holo polishes as well. Today I will show you one of her first holo polishes (which is also limited edition).

"Quantum Singularity" is a blackened purple holo. I used two coats of polish over a clear base coat, no top coat.

The purple is definitely subtle in this lovely holo but it shows itself more in the sunlight. The holo is great and it makes me happy that Mei-Lynn has decided to expand into new territory. I was a little indifferent when I first heard about it as there are so many holo makers out there that they are all kind of looking the same to me, but then I saw the colors of her holos and became very excited! The shades were unlike any holos I've seen.

Quantum Singularity is such a great polish. I had no application issues. It is a limited edition polish that is currently sold out but there is a possibility of it coming out again in the future. If you'd like to see some of the other fabulous My Ten Friends polishes you can check out her website here.

Until we meet again.

Review: "A Stripper Has Been Sleeping In My Bed" from Girly Bits

Hello Readers:

I have an awesome glitter packed polish for you today. It is called "A Stripper Has Been Sleeping In My Bed" from Girly Bits which was inspired by all the glitter that Pamela found in her bed one day from all her work in the polish shop.

"A Stripper Has Been Sleeping In My Bed" is a clear based polish packed full of microglitter in a plethora of colors.

First I'm going to show you the polish by itself, and then I'll show you photos of it over its partner undies "Peel Here". (To see "Peel Here" by itself check my past post: here).

Below are the photos of three coats using Stripper over a clear base, and a clear top coat.

Intentionally blurry to show off some sparkle

Isn't it just gorgeous and SPARKLY?!?!? I of course love all things sparkly so this doesn't disappoint! It goes on easy, and the opacity builds up great so you don't need undies if you don't want them. However if you do feel like wearing undies there is its buddy "Peel Here" which is featured in the photos below which show two coats of "Peel Here" and one coat of "Stripper" over top.

I think this duo is a great pairing! They fit well together but I think next time I'd use two coats of Stripper just for some extra sparkle. And of course you can use a different colored undie if you like. Overall both polishes are fabulous!

If you'd like to add either of these polishes to your collection you can check out Girly Bits' website, or from one of their US stockists: OverallBeauty or Llarowe.

Until we meet again.

Review: "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish" from My Ten Friends

Hello Readers:

I have something sparkly and gorgeous for you all today! It is a polish from My Ten Friends' new Geek Speak collection. Today's polish is called "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish", and is the title from the fourth Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book.

"So Long and Thanks for all the Fish" is sheer turquoise base with hints of green to gold shift, along with different sized turquoise, lime green, purple and holo hexes. Plus some small holo squares. I used two coats of polish over a clear base, and two coats of clear top coat.

Isn't it just BEAUTIFUL?!?!? I'll be entirely honest and admit that this wasn't the number one polish I wanted from the collection but it has fast become one of my favorites from it! It went on so easy and smooth, no need to dig around for glitter (even for the XL ones), and opacity builds great though you can wear it over a colored base well if you like.

I actually can't wait to wear this polish again! It is a great shade for summer. I also can't wait to share the rest of the collection with you in future posts. It is such a fabulous collection!

I also forgot to mention that this particular shade is limited edition so if you'd like to grab a bottle head over to the My Ten Friends website before it is all gone.

Until we meet again.
